Kitten Pricing

We love every kitten born here in our cattery dearly. Before they leave our farm they have been packed around by our 4 kids. Fed homegrown food and we know each one of them by meow. We truly want you to have a great experience throughout the whole pet picking process. That being said if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask! Our response time can vary, as we do still have life outside the Cattery, so if it takes a minute for us to respond please be understanding.

If you are interested in purchasing a kitten from us you need to submit some basic info, a name and phone number, State/Country you live in. I will give you a call promptly afterward and answer any questions you might have. This process helps weed out any scammers and also lets you know that I am a real person as well.

Currently we are charging $3200 male/female Maine Coon kitten. We charge the same amount for both Male and Female kittens. We offer genetic testing through Optimal Selection and also send a copy of parents genetic testing.

Please understand that the price is reflective of a serious time and health investment that we put into every kitten from our cattery.  From quality feed, veterinary care, time investment, cattery costs, love and socialization we do not cut corners.

The importing costs, customs brokerages & kitten travel from overseas is insanely expensive & is also a very risky endeavor. As a cattery we also pay sales tax & regular tax on each kitten sold. We invest in our program by importing some of the best Maine Coon genetic lines in the WORLD. If you are looking for lower prices sometimes you can find hobby breeders in your local classifieds.

There are other Catteries charging more than $5000-$7000for pet quality neutered Maine Coons. And yes, people do buy them at that price, however price does not always equal a more esteemed Maine Coon and I believe that unless you are buying a proven world champion, you are getting price gouged. That being said whether you find your kitten with us or someone else please do your homework. There are plenty of vampires in the pet world just waiting for a trusting person.

Our agreement with TICA states that we will recommend & put it in our deposit agreement that you will neuter your new Maine Coon within the first year of ownership. If you have questions about this or would like to chat with me about it, please do.

If you choose not to do this, you will not be able to breed your cat and sell the kittens with pedigree's. Also, please understand that owning an intact male that is over 1 year old can be a general pain.

Breeding rights can be obtained through our cattery to select homes. If you are interested in starting a cattery of you own, keep reading.

I prefer to sell breeding rights only to other TICA registered established Cattery's. However, if you are just starting out, I am willing to help as long as you are a cool & ethical individual.

-Breeding Rights-

So, you are considering starting your own Cattery! YAY! We couldn't be more excited for you!!! That being said,

unfortunately, this isn't the easiest hobby to break into. There are DEEP ROOTED control issues in the cat breeding world. Think of it as a snooty cat club that wants to prevent you from being able to join. I had never known people to be so discouraging of something that can be such a good thing. I get it, they don't want people irresponsibly breeding animals that they know nothing about. However, I don't think you'd be willing to spend several thousand dollars if you weren't planning on running a legitimate Cattery. Personally think it's all more about money for most of these people anyways.    It took us many months after we had decided that this was something our family wanted to do, to find a reputable breeder that would sell us breeding rights and help mentor us on our own personal journey.  We were not new to breeding animals either and had tons of experience with both my husband and I growing up on farms raising bunnies, chickens, cows, kitten, horses and breeding our beloved Golden Retriever's in previous years. Still people were not able too, or simply did not want to sell a Maine Coon with breeding rights.  If we would have continued down this road in the US Catteries, it would have cost us over $20,000 and I am confident we wouldn't have received the superior Queens and King that we have here at Idaho Mountain Maine Coons. All that being said here's our policy on purchasing Kings and Queen's....

1. Be Legit.

2. Learn as much as you can about the breed on your own.

3. Be prepared before you get your cats.

We will only offer the breeding rights option on Kittens that our of outstanding, show stopping quality. Purchasing a pet for breeding however does require lots of love and learning about the breed and ultimate respect for the characteristics that make Maine Coon's the most magnificent house cat around.  Starting a successful cattery requires a lot and can be an expensive endeavor. Each kitten available for breeding rights will be priced accordingly typically between $5,000-$7000. Keep in mind that not every kitten we offer will have the breeding right option (only if they meet or surpass breed standard.)  If you are interested in becoming a cattery owner, please contact me.
